“Truly amazing” our clients said, we were once again amazed by the surprises mother nature had for us.
We were heading straight towards Dyer Island to find the whales and dolphins our research vessel was telling us about. And we have been super lucky to find them traveling eastwards to Pearly Beach. The Bottlenose dolphins were bow riding and traveling alongside the vessel for the whole time we did spend with them. In between the dolphins we had first two Humpback whales coming up before another four joined the group. The dolphins and whales were so relaxed around our vessel and it was hard to choose where to watch as they have been everywhere around us. After spending a long time with these beautiful creatures we had a glimpse of a Bryde’s whale and made our way towards Dyer Island.
Behind the island we encountered two Southern Right whales on the move. How luck to find three baleen whale species during one trip and some dolphins. Before heading back to the harbour we passed the Cape Fur seal colony on Geyser Rock and made our way around Dyer Island. Most of us have been speechless after such an incredible experience.
