On our two whale watching tours today we had an awesome time with the Southern Right whales.
On both trips we had to go to Pearly Beach to find the Southern Right whales, but when we got there they rewarded us with incredible views. On the first tour we spent our time with three whales, a Mum and calf pair with one single adult. The three whales were rolling around together and we saw the adults lift their heads out of the water a little and were very lucky to see the calf roll onto the back of its Mum at one point!
On this tour we also got to see an African penguin sitting on the water and a Great White shark at Slashfin, our sister company’s boat. On every tour we visit the amazing Cape Fur seal colony at Geyser Rock and the passengers on our first trip were very lucky indeed when we briefly saw a pod of very active Common dolphins as we went into the harbour.
On the second tour we spent our time with four Southern Right whales, two mothers with their calves. Both pairs came incredibly close to our boat Dream Catcher and gave us some incredible looks. We got to see the beautiful flukes of the whales briefly also.
This tour also saw a Great White shark free swimming in the shallows, African penguins sitting on the water close to the boat and the Cape Fur seal colony on Geyser Rock. Two awesome tours today.
