Guide Summary and Photographs
On our three whale watching tours today we were successful in finding Southern Right whales.
We encountered Mother and calf Southern Right whales in the Pearly Beach area on all of our trips. We feel incredibly privileged to still have a couple of Mother whales around our whale watching area. We were very lucky and got a couple of close approaches by one pair in particular, who seem to regularly approach our boat for a closer look. Our skipper had the boat in neutral gear and we were just drifting. It is an amazing to experience the whales up close and personal.
We also saw a Great White shark on every tour today. Geyser Rock is currently even more full of Cape Fur seals than usual as the mating season is in full swing so there are many bull seals on the island, as well as the pupping season has begun, so we have started to see tiny pups there too.
On all three tours we spotted African Penguins as well, either on the island, in a distance, or sitting on the water.
