What a fantastic day to be out at sea and do some whale watching.
On all three trips we have been lucky and got to see some Southern Right whale. We had some cow-calf pairs in Pearly Beach and one pair in the ‘shallows’. In the Pearly Beach area we encountered a sub adult. It was a curious whale and approached our vessel ‘Dream Catcher’.
On two of the trips we spotted our Indian Ocean humpback dolphins. During our morning trip we encountered a well-known dolphin named ‘Summer’. Summer was close to our boat chasing some fish.
On two out of the three trips we also managed to see the endangered African penguins. We have seen them on Dyer Island and some more in the water on our last trip. Before heading home we also passed the Cape Fur seal colony on Geyser Rock.
