Guide Summary and Photographs
Although it was overcast for the whole day we had good sightings. On our first trip for the day we have been very lucky and got to see the Marine 5! On the second one we were just missing the sharks.
Just outside the harbour we were hugging the coastline and found Indian-Ocean humpback dolphins close to Uilenkraalsmond. It was great to see them in our bay again as it has been a while since we last spotted these species of dolphin. Also a few known faces were in between like ‘Summer’ and her calf as well as ‘Stumpy’ and her calf.
On the first trip we had a glimpse of a Great White shark around the shark cage diving vessels. After visiting them we we cruised in the direction of Pearly Beach were we found our Southern Right whales. One of the whales was flushing its baleen, so we were pretty lucky and to see them, as this is definitely not an everyday occurrence. On the way back to Kleinbaai we passed Dyer Island and Geyser Rock, to have a look at the Cape Fur seals and African penguins.
