Guide Summary and Photographs

After four days off the water due to bad weather, we were finally able to go out to sea again.

We ran three whale watching trips today and got to see Mother and calf Southern Right whales on all three trips. On both the first and third trips we found whales quite early on in our search, and in quite shallow water. This allowed for some wonderful views of the animals as they were not diving for very long. We are very happy to be seeing calves regularly now this season, and hope that this continues. On the third trip of the day, the mother lifted her head a little out of the water one time.

On all three trips we had some great views of Great White sharks near our sister company Marine Dynamics. On the second trip in particular we had a very clear view of the shark right next to our boat.

We also visited Geyser Rock and Dyer Island on all our trips, taking a look at the ever present colony of Cape Fur seals, always giving us some wonderful views as they play around the boat. We also got to see some incredible waves breaking behind the island, the remnants of swell left by the wind we have had the last few days. On two of the three trips we also briefly saw a small group of African Penguins on the water.

We would like to thank Ali and Mo for both choosing to join us for their birthday celebrations, and we wish them many happy returns of the day!
