Guide Summary and Photographs
On our two whale watching tours today we saw Mum and calf Southern Right whales in Pearly Beach again.
As the calves get bigger they can become more active and venture further away from their mum’s side. On the morning tour we got some beautiful looks at both the Mum and calf slowly travelling. On the afternoon tour the passengers were lucky enough to see a calf becoming playful and active. We saw the calf do a number of breaches, when the animal jumps out of the water. This is something we definitely do not see every day.
On both tours we got to see Great White sharks with the help of our friends from Marine Dynamics. On the morning tour there were two sharks close to the boat, a large one and a smaller shark.
On the morning tour we briefly glimpsed a small group of Indian Ocean Humpback dolphins travelling near to some kelp.
The Cape Fur seals at Geyser Rock are our regular companions when we go through shark alley to take a look at their antics. They always give us a fantastic display of curiosity and fun!
