Guide Summary and Photographs
What a stunning day out on the water! Today, we launched to picture perfect sea conditions. After travelling only a short while out of the harbour, we were greeted by our resident pod of humpback dolphins. We were fortunate enough to have them stick around for quite a while which lead to some awesome photographic opportunities. Following this, we travelled to Joubertsdam were we spotted a Bryde’s whale. These beautiful creatures are normally quite elusive and so we were pretty lucky to have encountered one who stayed within the vicinity of the boat for a good 10-15 minutes. After this, we made our way to Dyer Island. On the way, we spotted the characteristic Cape gannet. Once at the island, we managed to see a couple of African penguins in between the thousands of cormorants. The seals at Geyser Rock were up to their usual playful banter and one of our crew members managed to spot a large great white shark although it disappeared pretty quickly into the murky water. On our second trip we spotted the dolphins again and were really lucky to see a Subantarctic skua while making our way back to the harbour. Overall, a perfect day at the office.
