Guide Summary and Photographs
It was sunny and quite calm day on board our boat, Dream Catcher, with two whale watching trips for the day.
We watched whales off the town of Pearly Beach on both trips and we are seeing a few Southern Right whales in that area at the moment. On the first tour we spent some time with a couple of different mother and calf pairs, and we also got to see in the distance another pair breaching. It seemed like the mother might have been teaching her calf to breach as she would breach and then the calf would breach shortly afterwards! We also saw another whale close to Geyser Rock as we were traveling to the seal colony.
On the second tour we returned to Pearly Beach and saw a Mum and calf pair and also a pair of adult whales slowly traveling. We got some nice looks at them lifting their heads a little out of the water in the swell and rolling around with half the tail out of the water. This tour was also lucky enough to see a Great White shark when we visited our colleagues at Slashfin and on both trips we had incredible displays from the large Cape Fur seal colony at Geyser Rock.
