Breaches and flukes! Marine Big 5 Daily Blog
Written by September 28 2021

This morning we had a fantastic encounter with some southern right whales just outside the harbour. The mother and her calf were very relaxed alongside the vessel and lifted their flukes a couple of times before taking a longer dive. On the second tour we had just as great sightings in the Pearly Beach area with a playful calf breaching a few times, while another one approached our vessel with its mother while the boat was just drifting along. Today we also had sightings of some penguins both in the water and on Dyer Island. Stopping by the Cape fur seals was a must and always fun to see. What a great day at sea!
