Guide Summary and Photographs
We experienced a light breeze in the morning and lots of sunshine throughout the day.
On our morning trip we had a whale of a tail. Shortly after launching from the harbour we spotted a mother and her calf close to the coast. The mother whale was showing off , raising her fluke several times before taking a dive. After spending time with these two gentle giants we continued to the shark cage diving boats and Dyer Island. On the way back through an area we call ‘the washing machine’, we encountered a Humpback whale briefly.
On the second trip we drove past the shark cage diving boats to Pearly Beach, where we found another cow calf pair. They were slowly traveling close by and taking regular dives.
The third trip was for the winner from the marine month competition in partnership with the Overstrand Municipality and sponsored by the Department of Environmental Affairs and DP. On this tour we spotted a whale shortly after launching from the harbour in Kleinbaai. After spending time with the whales we continued with our regular tour to the cage diving boats, the Cape Fur seal colony and Dyer Island.
