Guide Summary and Photographs
Whale Watching near Cape Town, South Africa Welcome to Gansbaai, home of the Marine Big 5.
Trip Summary 27 October 2022:
Due to some low tide, we were launching from Gansbaai harbour and heading around Danger Point where we saw the first southern right whales for the day. On the other tours, we also spotted some southern right whales close to shore between Kleinbaai and Danger Point lighthouse. Some of the calves we encountered today were playing with kelp or rolling over their mother’s back. On the first tour of the day, we have also been fortunate to encounter a second species of baleen whales, behind the island we spotted some humpback whales. On of the calves were continuously throwing its tail in the air and all four came up for regular breaths. After visits to the Cape fur seal colony and Dyer Island, we passed by the shallows to see some bronze whaler sharks. What a great day to be out on the ocean!
