Guide Summary and Photographs
After 2 days on terra firma due to high winds, we were itching to get back on the water. Setting off with high hopes we were not disappointed, we had lots of sightings of mother and calf Southern Right whales. One particular baby, the team hadn’t seen before, caused great excitement amongst the crew as he had a large white marking on his back, our very own piebald Southern Right whale! Unfortunately the excitement soon disappeared when we saw an entangled Cape Fur seal on Geyser rock, having a piece of carelessly discarded green rope caught around it’s neck . Although today was spectacular, I can only hope next time I will be as lucky as Hunter and get to witness 17 breaches in 30 minutes… – Sandra Bolton (Marine Volunteer)
