Guide Summary and Photographs
Today’s trip onboard Whale Whisperer was full of variety! Our first stop was a quick visit to the shark cage diving boats to spot a Great White shark, then on the way to Pearly Beach we were happily accompanied by a large flock of Cape cormorants. Once in Pearly Beach we immediately spotted a Southern Right whale mother-calf pair relaxing at the surface. We were also fortunate enough to spot the mother-calf pair who has taken in an orphaned little calf; it’s incredible to watch this mother handling two calves at a time! Over at the Island system, we got to see just how packed Geyser rock is with this year’s newborn Cape Fur seal pups. Spotting the African penguins on Dyer Island was an excellent end to today’s awesome trip… – Yvonne Nuessing (Marine Volunteer)
