First day back on the water after more than a week off sea, due to bad weather, and the whales had a great show lined up for us! The Southern Right whales were rolling around playing in the swells and they were curious enough to approach our boat on both the first and second trips out today. As the wind picked up for our final trip of the day so did the whale activity and they gave us some fantastic breaches right next to the boat! While making our back to Dyer Island on the last trip we ran into a massive flock of Cape Cormorants diving in every direction, there must have been a nice sized school of fish under us! Right when we were beginning to leave Dyer Island we managed to spot a large raft of African Penguins, at least 20, heading home for the night. We took that as our cue to head home as well and watched the sunset as we came into the harbour…
