Guide Summary and Photographs

The weather today was a complete contrast to yesterday, with cloudy skies and swells. But that didn’t prevent the Whale Whisperer from making an unforgettable trip. Leaving Kleinbaai harbor we headed towards Danger Point, where we were hoping to spot humpbacks in the deeper waters. We did spot a blow in the distance however the animal disappeared before we could get closer. Undeterred we headed off instead to Pearly Beach where most of our sightings occur. Sure enough a mother and calf Southern Right were seen. The calf was very young as it was small in size. The mother was very relaxed, approaching the boat closely. To top off the trip, an African penguin was spotted on Geyser Rock amongst the seals. Overall a great day for those on board of whale whisperer…-Rosie Bowyer (Marine Volunteer)
