It was great to finally get back on the water today and the day started with a bang! It was thanks to a breaching mama that we found our first whales today, and it was from the mother-calf pair that is quite frequent, and we’ve nicknamed “Patch Adams” due to the small prominent white patch on the calf’s back. We saw three different mother-calf pairs throughout the day, one of which looked like a fairly new calf, definitely one we hadn’t seen before! “Patch Adams” stole the show again for the last trip, with continuous breaching – to the point where his mum actually started to call him back to her with a low grunting noise, or so it would seem as he stopped the breaching and returned to her side very obediently…
