It was overcast and a little windy today but it did not deter the whale activity in the slightest! We started out at Pearly beach this morning where we found a large mating group of at least six Southern Right whales. They were being very friendly and actually approached the boat to take a look at us! In the afternoon we decided to check out the whale action in the Joubertsdam area. It appeared a little slow at first, but before we realized it we were surrounded by five whales in different directions. We may have even witnessed some very rare feeding behaviour as one whale came up opening its mouth three times! It must have been dinner time, because as we made our way to the Cape Fur seals at Geyser rock, we spotted a Giant petrel feeding on a penguin carcass. To finish off the trip we were lucky enough to sight a small raft of African penguins making their way home before the bad weather sets in again tonight…
