Finally back at sea! Marine Big 5 tour 06 February 2020

Guide Summary and Photographs

After a day on land due to stronger west winds we were able to head out to sea again. As soon as we launched from Kleinbaai harbour we were driving towards Uilenkraal lagoon and along the coast towards the shark cage diving boats. We stopped at our sister company Marine Dynamics and were lucky to see a couple of bronze whale sharks, one even came very close to our vessel.

Arrived in the famous Shark Alley we watched the seals playing in the water and observed the lazier ones laying on Geyser Rock. As we were about to leave, we spotted an African Penguin catching some fish in-between the kelp close to Dyer Island. All the bird enthusiast on board were delighted to also have seen a couple of Giant Petrel, and two Sooty Shearwaters and many more birds around Dyer Island. It’s always great to encounter pelagic bird species so close inshore!
