Guide Summary.
On our one tour today before the wind started to howl again, we had a fantastic Marine Big Five trip! We started out seeing a southern right whale mother and calf very close to the harbour. They were slowly travelling west and gave us some wonderful, close looks as she and her calf steadily swam close to the coast.
Next we went to stop by Slashfin to see if we could see some sharks and we had a lot of activity as they had at least four bronze whaler sharks around the boat when we stopped there.
On our way towards Pearly Beach we had a special surprise. Having not seen them for a while, we found a group of Indian Ocean humpback dolphins hunting fish near De Clyde. We got some great looks at the dolphins as they were going around in circles foraging.
After this surprise sighting we headed over to the islands, firstly seeing some African penguins in Sponge Bay when we stopped by Dyer Island, and then of course rounding off the Marine Big 5 tour by seeing the thousands of cape fur seals on geyser rock. It was a great day!
