Guide Summary and Photographs
It was a beautiful day to be on the water, the sea was calm, the sun was shining, the clouds were scarce and the whales were chilling! If the breaching whales weren’t impressive enough, the curiosity of one young sub-adult definitely was! This young whale swam right up beside the boat and stayed just under the surface of the water watching the boat for a few minutes before surfacing directly in front of us and staying put for an amazing 5 minutes and then diving under the boat. You can’t get any better sightings than that! On the way back to the harbour we found a large plastic barrel floating in the water that had clearly been there for quite some time due to both the amount and size of Goose barnacles that had attached themselves to it. Every year carelessly discarded rubbish is responsible for the death of thousands of marine mammals and millions of seabirds, the importance of keeping our oceans clean can’t be stressed enough, and we always try and do our part to help clean it up…
