Marine Big 5 Daily Blog 10 September

Whale Watching near Cape Town, South Africa – Welcome to Gansbaai, home of the Marine Big 5.

Trip Summary 10 September 2026:

Another beautiful day out on the water around the Dyer Island ecosystem, with something exciting around every corner. Southern right whales gave us incredible sightings along Pearly Beach, while common dolphins added plenty of energy as they moved through the bay. A Bryde’s whale was also spotted on one of our trips, but it lived up to its shy, elusive nature, surfacing once before disappearing.  In the shallows, bronze whaler sharks cruised by, with the playful Cape fur seals and African penguins being spotted around the local islands. A wonderful variety of marine life which resulted in a memorable day out in the water.
