Marine Big 5 Daily Blog 03 September

Whale Watching near Cape Town, South Africa – Welcome to Gansbaai, home of the Marine Big 5.

Trip Summary 03 September 2026:

The calm before the storm. Leaving Kleinbaai Harbour behind us early this morning, we started with a sighting of Southern Right whales! Next up, Bronze whaler sharks, around our Shark cage diving vessel Slashfin. Making our way through the reef system, we spotted a Bryde’s whale in deeper waters. Heading to the island system, we spent some time around our Cape fur seals of Geyser Rock and visited the critically endangered African Penguins on Dyer Island. Lucky us, some more Southern Right whales appeared between the two stops too! We will see you once the wind has settled!
