A strong westerly wind meant only one early morning trip today, but the mother-calf pairs in the bay were awake and waiting! We found “Spotty” and his mother playing by a kelp forest and using the strong current being created to build up “Spotty’s” swimming capability. We can easily identify “Spotty”, not just by the speckled white pattern on his back but also from the shape of his small pectoral flippers as they each have a perfect little indent in the centre of them. Over at the Island system the seals were barking at each other and there were lots of African penguins posing on the rocks for us. Likely gearing up to go catch their daily meal in the strong winds, happy fishing…
