Whale Watching South Africa, 27 November 2018

Guide Summary.

The swell has dropped a little from yesterday, so we had a lovely 2 trips out on Dream Catcher, heading towards Pearly Beach to catch up with some of our Southern Right mothers and their beautiful babies. Although the sky was a little moody, this did not hinder us on the least with no rain experienced on any of our tours. The moody skies did make for some impressive landscape photography, and we enjoyed cruising around the bay and making our way between the swell.

On the first tour of the day we got to stop at Slashfin to get some awesome views of our gorgeous Copper Sharks. We had a couple around and spent some time watching as these predators moved gracefully around the boat before we made our way over The Clyde reef system and on towards Pearly Beach. We spent some lovely time with the whales here, watching as the surfaced in the swell. Our first whale was just outside the harbour, but we travelled to Pearly Beach anyway to get a few more views before making our way into shark alley to visit our seals. Everyday, more and more pups emerge and it has been breathtaking watching as these little ones take on the world. We finished of this tour with a stop at the African Penguins in Sponge Bay.

On our second tour, we went straight over The Clyde and found our first whales just on the other side, this pair was travelling towards Pearly beach, we got a few close looks before making in the same direction. We got to find some whales hanging out at the beach and watched them here, spotting them as the swell rose over and gave us a good look at their massive size. We also got to see a Brydes Whale on this trip due to the fact that we had lots of fish around, we had the Brydes Whale surface right next to us which was a definite treat.  Geyser Rock was our next stop and finally Dyer Island where we pointed our some well camouflaged Penguins between the boulders.
