A Southern Right Kind of Day! Marine Big 5 Daily Blog 24 August
Written by August 24 2022
Whale Watching near Cape Town, South Africa Welcome to Gansbaai, home of the Marine Big 5.
Trip Summary 24 August 2022:
Today on Whale Whisperer we braved a little wind and we were certainly rewarded! Less than ten minutes after departing the harbour we came across an awe-inspiring mother and calf Southern Right whale pair cruising with a Cape Fur seal! These animals were beautifully calm around the boat to the delight of our guests and crew on board. We enjoyed these whales for a time before heading towards our shark cage diving vessel, Slashfin, where we got some brilliant views of the Bronze Whaler sharks and even a Short-Tail stingray. We were also very lucky with our bird sightings today with Shy Albatross, Sub Antarctic Skua, Egyptian Geese and various Gulls, Terns and Cormorants!
