Whale Watching near Cape Town, South Africa Welcome to Gansbaai, home of the Marine Big 5.
Trip Summary 27 May 2022:
We had a swell of a day out at sea today! Not long after departing the harbour we came across an African Penguin cruising by the boat. We then made the scenic route along the coast and passed by the shark cage diving vessels. Moving forward, we stopped by Dyer Island and Geyser Rock. We were able to enjoy our incredible 60,000 stong Cape Fur seal colony as they played around the boat! We then ventured out into deeper waters where we were extremely fortunate to spot what appeared to be the spout of a Southern Right Whale. After a short while, we eventually caught up with a magnificent pair of Southern Right Whales calmly cruising. Our crew and clients got to enjoy this beautiful pair for quite some time, what an amazing way to kick off whale season here in Gansbaai! After moving on from the whales and heading back to the harbour we also found a large raft of African Penguins feeding on a bait ball, also in the company of Cape Cormorants, Terns and White Chinned Petrels.
