Dolphins, whales and more! Marine Big 5 Daily Blog

Today has been overcast but we had amazing sightings. Just outside Kleinbaai harbour we encountered some of the endangered humpback dolphins travelling along the coast line. After leaving them we were heading to Danger Point and had some really great encounters there. First we spotted a humpback whale who was slowly swimming alongside our vessel before it breached twice. And as we we’re waiting for it to come up again we spotted some splashes of common dolphins a bit further off. The dolphin really put on a show, leaping high out of the water while travelling next to our vessel Whale Whisperer and we were also super lucky and heard their whistles. In the same area we also encountered Shy Albatross, White-chinned Petrel and Giant Petrel. Arriving at Dyer Island we saw two juvenile penguins at sea and more on the island itself. We also had a great time seeing all the Cape Fur seals, what a fantastic day at sea!
