Marine Big 5 Daily Blog 09 July

Whale Watching near Cape Town, South Africa – Welcome to Gansbaai, home of the Marine Big 5.

Trip Summary 09 July 2025:

Today was an interesting day filled with amazing marine life and an up-and-down adventure. We launched our whale watching vessel in Gansbaai harbour due to the low spring tide in our bay. It started off a little bumpy as there was some swell and west winds, yet it got a little better as we reached Danger Point. With luck on our side, we managed to spot a Humpback whale and had a few brief looks at it before continuing in deeper waters. We made a stop at Dyer Island and as we were approaching Geyser Rock a pod of beautiful bottle nose dolphins made an appearance as they were gliding through the water after the amazing sight we saw the playful cape fur seals then made a stop near our shark diving vessel where we got a glimpse of a Bronze Whaler shark before heading back to Kleinbaai Harbour.
