Marine Big 5 Daily Blog 22 December

Whale Watching near Cape Town, South Africa Welcome to Gansbaai, home of the Marine Big 5.

Trip Summary 22 December 2022:

The sun was shining and the weather was sweet, we launch bright and early with our first trip launching from Gansbaai Harbour due to the low tide, and our second and third trips both launched from Kleinbaai Harbour later in the day. We enjoyed some fantastic conditions on the sea and on each trip made a visit to the Islands, spending some time viewing the Cape fur seal colony along with the Endangered African penguin colony on Dyer Island. The shark cage diving vessels were out in the bay and we were lucky to also be able to visit and see some Bronze whaler sharks. On the third and final trip of the day we also encountered a Sunfish in the deeper waters behind the Islands.
