Whale Watching near Cape Town, South Africa Welcome to Gansbaai, home of the Marine Big 5.
Trip Summary 09 April 2023:
This morning we enjoyed a scenic ride from Gansbaai harbour. On our journey around Danger Point, we were able to spot a plethora of sea birds including; White Chinned Petrels, Cape Gannets, and African Penguins. We were pleasantly surprised to come across a pod of Common Dolphins on our trip today! These animals put on quite a show for our guests with some displays of bow-riding and breaching around the boat. After this, we made our way to our shark cage diving vessel, Slashfin where we enjoyed the beautiful Bronze Whaler sharks and even a Short-Tail stingray! Next, we headed out toward the island system. By Dyer Island, we were fortunate to get a look at the African Penguins on land. The ever-inquisitive Cape Fur seals on Geyser Rock were also a delight to watch. A big thank you to everyone who joined us on board, it was a pleasure having you with us!

With a local population of 60,000, it's no wonder our guests capture so many photographs of these wonderfully playful marine mammals.

With an 'hourgalss' patch on either side and aerial activity the common dolphin is an agile and majestic species, that may easily reach a speed of 40km/h.
