Whale Watching near Cape Town, South Africa Welcome to Gansbaai, home of the Marine Big 5.
Trip Summary 01 August 2023:
It was a wild day on the sea today, after three days off we were happy to be back on the water and eager to see what was in the bay. The first trip got lucky with two separate sightings of Humpback whales, a pair, and a solo individual, we also encountered a Sunfish just behind the Islands, this very calm, big fish happily sunned itself on the surface so we could all have a good look. We finished off the trip with a visit to the Cape fur seal colony. The second trip of the day started with a very shy solo Humpback whale adult, but with a bit of movement around the bay we came across a Southern Right whale behind the Islands. We visited the seals before we received some fantastic news that our sister company Marine Dynamics had spotted a Great White shark, which we were lucky enough to encounter ourselves as the juvenile cruised around our boat.
