Whale Watching near Cape Town, South Africa – Welcome to Gansbaai, home of the Marine Big 5.
Trip Summary 02 June 2025:
Today was a calm and beautiful day out at sea, We greeted our guests as they jumped on board our whale watching vessel, Dream Catcher and started our amazing marine big 5 tour. We started off by heading into deep waters towards Danger Point on the lookout for marine life, where we stopped to tell the tale of the historical Birkenhead British troop ship.
As we continued in deeper waters, we managed to see a whale’s spout, and there it was, the guardian of the ocean revealed itself. We got a few beautiful brief looks at a Humpback whale and a Bryde’s whale as it arched its back above the surface. Of course, this wouldn’t be a marine big 5 trip without the Cape fur seals and our little friends in tuxedos, the African penguin. We made a stop in shark alley, where everyone got a look at the playful Cape fur seals and stopped by the seabird paradise to spot a few African penguins. We then headed to the nearest shark diving vessel. where we saw a bronze shimmer underneath the surface near the shark diving cage, and there it was, A Bronze whaler shark showing off its shark fin and gracefully hitting its tail against the cage, leaving everyone excited.
