Whale Watching near Cape Town, South Africa Welcome to Gansbaai, home of the Marine Big 5.
Trip Summary 03 April 2022:
Just outside Kleinbaai harbour, we spotted a couple of hundred Cape Cormorants sitting on the water. Further down the coast in the shallows, we stopped at Marine Dynamics boat Slashfin where we saw a bronze whaler shark surfacing a few times right in front of the cage.Beyond De Clyde we spotted a couple of diving birds and some Cape fur seals as well as a sunfish. We then continued to Shark Alley and Geyser Rock which was packed with Cape fur seals. After a stop at Dyer Island, we went once again into deeper waters and were lucky to see more feeding seabirds such as Cape Gannet, Sooty Shearwater, White-chinned Petrel and various terns. Whilst watching the Cape Gannet plunge dive into the water we had a Bryde’s whale coming up next to our vessel. After some great sightings, we were heading back to Kleinbaai harbour.
