Whale Watching near Cape Town, South Africa – Welcome to Gansbaai, home of the Marine Big 5.
Trip Summary 06 September 2025:
We had a great sunny day, and it was nice to find some southern right whales not far from Kleinbaai. We had a great encounter with a brindle calf close to a reef and kelp forest. Further out, some more right whales were spotted during the day. At our shark cage diving boats, we saw a couple of Bronze Whaler sharks, and the waters around Shark Alley and Geyser Rock were busy with Cape fur seals as usual. At Dyer Island, we spotted a few of the penguins on the beach. What a great day at sea!

The Bronze whaler (also known as Copper sharks) here in Kleinbaai are very curious and interactive. These sharks eat mostly fish, with sardines being one of their favourites.
