Whale Watching near Cape Town, South Africa Welcome to Gansbaai, home of the Marine Big 5.
Trip Summary 11 August 2023:
We started today with some fog covering the whole bay, which made it a little bit difficult to spot the whales, but we managed to have quite a few sightings of Southern Right whales and even a nice bonus of two Bryde’s whales on our way to the island. At the Island System, we enjoyed some seals. Our second trip got lucky with some incredible Southern right sightings and Cape Fur seals at Geyser rock and some penguins on Dyer island. For the third trip, we had to drive around a little bit but then were rewarded with a stunning mother and a calf Southern Right whale pair. And on the fourth trip we couldn’t believe it at first, but it seems that seals and whales are good friends with a Cape Fur seal playing around a juvenile Southern Right whale for the whole time we were with it!
