Whale Watching near Cape Town, South Africa Welcome to Gansbaai, home of the Marine Big 5.
Trip Summary 12 June 2022:
A little swell and wind did not stop our adventure today as we headed out on another Marin Big 5 trip. We had some amazing pelagic bird sightings including White Chinned Petrels, Sooty Shearwater, Subantarctic Skua, various Tern Species and even a few Shy Albatross! Our trip led us from the deeper waters into Shark Alley where we had some beautiful views of the Cape Fur Seals on Geyser Rock and we got some great sightings of the African Penguin colony on Dyer Island too. Our patience was rewarded as we were heading back towards the bay, when we spotted a V-shaped spout, signalling a Southern Right Whale. This beautiful animal was moving very calmly alongside the boat. After a short stop at the cage diving vessels, we made our way back to the harbour and concluded a beautiful day out at sea.
