Whale Watching near Cape Town, South Africa – Welcome to Gansbaai, home of the Marine Big 5.
Trip Summary 15 May 2025:
Would you be ready for a sunny day out at sea? The crew of Marine Dynamics whale tours is! With a perfect forecast for today, we greeted our guests at The Great White House in Kleinbaai before heading down to the local harbour. We faced a light breeze from the south and very little to no swell throughout the trip. As usual, part of our itinerary was the island system, The Shallows, deeper waters and the coast. Geyser Rock, packed with thousands of Cape fur seals, is always a highlight on our trips. A quick stop around Dyer Island to get a look at the critically endangered African Penguins wraps up the visits to the islands. The Shallows, a hotspot for Shark cage diving, could not be missed. Stopping by our Shark cage vessel, Slashfin, granted us a few glimpses at the Bronze whaler shark, cutting through the surface with its copper colored dorsal fin. A curious Short-tailed stingray surfaced too! Closer to Danger Point in deeper waters we were lucky to have spotted two individual Bryde’s whales! One being more elusive than the other we still managed to get some great looks at the second one. Patience does pay out!
