Whale Watching near Cape Town, South Africa Welcome to Gansbaai, home of the Marine Big 5.
Trip Summary 19 August 2023:
What an absolute win of a day for us today! The weather was almost perfect with very calm seas and just a bit of a breeze. But the weather wasn’t the only thing that made our day so special. We were so incredibly fortunate to encounter multiple whales on our tours today. The first trip started a streak of good luck with a pair sighted first before we came upon a mating group that was so relaxed, calm, and close. On the second trip of the day, we experienced a similar encounter with a few adult Southern Right whales added to the mating group when we spotted them again. The third and final trip of the day continued with the fantastic Southern Right whale sightings, as multiple adults were again encountered, exhibiting the same relaxed, calm behaviour as seen throughout the day from these gentle giants. Each of our trips also spent some time around the island system, enjoying the sunshine just as much as the Cape fur seals of Geyser Rock and the African penguins of Dyer Island. All in all an incredible day for all of our guests and crew, big thanks to all who joined us, we really hope we created some unforgettable memories.
