Whale Watching near Cape Town, South Africa Welcome to Gansbaai, home of the Marine Big 5.
Trip Summary 22 September 2022:
Our trip this morning was a fantastic adventure out at sea! Our guests were treated to some amazing sightings of 4 of the marine big 5 as well as some amazing bird life. We were able to spot 5 cow-calf pairs of Southern Right whales in the bay, with one of the calves being a bit of a show-off and giving us a spectacular show. The shark cage diving vessels did not disappoint as we got to see some beautiful bronze whaler shark activity around the cage. Over at Dyer Island, we caught some glimpses of the endangered African Penguin not only on land but also in the water. Over by Geyser Rock, the 60,000-strong Cape Fur seal colony put on quite a display for our guests on board. We also had some incredible bird sightings including thousands of Cape Cormorants, Giant Petrels, African Oystercatchers and various Tern species.
