Marine big 5 Daily Blog 23 September

Whale Watching near Cape Town, South Africa – Welcome to Gansbaai, home of the Marine Big 5.

Trip Summary 23 September 2025:

Another successful day ended here at Marine Dynamics. Due to the spring tide, we launched our first two trips from Gansbaai Harbour, which led us past the Danger Point peninsula. With a bit of west wind coming in, we headed with the wind towards our hotspots. Throughout the day, we encountered the critically endangered African Penguins on Dyer Island and the always vocal Cape fur seals on Geyser Rock. A short stop by the Shark cage diving boats allowed some nice looks at our beloved Bronze whaler sharks of the area. Along coastal regions, we spotted several Southern Right whale pairs calmly swimming alongside us. Some of the trips have also been lucky to spot Humpback whales in deeper waters.
