Marine Big 5 Daily Blog 28 August

Whale Watching near Cape Town, South Africa Welcome to Gansbaai, home of the Marine Big 5.

Trip Summary 28 August 2023:

Finally, after a few days of strong winds, we get to have our calm and flat days. And today wasn’t just comfortable, but also rich in sightings. The first trip started our lucky streak with multiple Southern Right whale sightings that we encountered throughout the bay next to ours, pairs and individuals included. On the second trip of the day encountered Southern Right whales just outside the harbour, as they gracefully moved through our bay hugging the coastline.

Each of the trips today made a pass by the Island systems, taking a closer look at the Cape fur seal colony along with the seabird colony as well as a trip to the shallows to visit our sister company Marine Dynamics who were busy with shark cage diving, with Bronze whaler sharks being seen for the day.
