Marine Big 5 Daily Blog 3 October

Whale Watching near Cape Town, South Africa Welcome to Gansbaai, home of the Marine Big 5.

Trip Summary 03 October 2022:

Our trip today was a bit wet and wild but we didn’t let a little drizzle stop us from enjoying an incredible trip with 4 of the Marine Big 5 spotted! We encountered numerous cow-calf pairs of Southern Right whales including an extra rare brindle calf and some breaching in the distance! We also witness some beautiful Bronze Whaler shark action around our shark cage diving vessel, Slashfin. After this, we made the journey toward Dyer Island. Here we spotted numerous African Penguins on land and thousands of Cape Cormorants. In world-famous waters, Shark Alley, we enjoyed the 60,000-strong Cape Fur seal colony who were beautifully active around the boat! Throughout our trip we also sighted some amazing bird life including; Cape Gannets, Giant Petrels, African Oyster Catchers and Egyptian Geese.
