Whale Watching near Cape Town, South Africa Welcome to Gansbaai, home of the Marine Big 5.
Trip Summary 31 May 2023:
A stunning day out at sea. We launched from Kleinbaai harbour and made our way to Slashfin, our sister company’s vessel where we were so lucky to see a Great White shark! And then we explored a little bit farther into the deeper waters in hopes of finding some whales, but the ocean was rather quiet. We headed to Shark Alley and enjoyed the company of hundreds of Cape Fur seals in the water and also managed to spot quite a few African penguins on Dyer Island. On the way back to the harbour we saw a sunfish flopping its dorsal fin at us!

As one of only 17 penguin species left in the world (and the only one on the african continent), the african penguin often breed in offshore colonies, such as Dyer Island.

With a local population of 60,000, it's no wonder our guests capture so many photographs of these wonderfully playful marine mammals.
