Having the west wind in the back we were heading from Kleinbaai towards the Pearly Beach area. On our way we had a brief look at a juvenile African penguin that took a dive shortly after we stopped our boat, Whale Whisperer. Further along the coast and close to the town Pearly Beach we couldn’t be more excited to find a Southern Right whale with her calf. After more than we week of not seeing any Southern Right whales this sighting came truly as a surprise and was a moment we cherish. Arrived at Dyer Island we spotted a few more African penguins and plenty of Cape cormorant and other bird species and as it turned out to be a sunny day, we found many of the Cape Fur seals in the water of Shark Alley, which is located between Dyer Island and Geyser Rock. What a fantastic day at sea.
What species did we see today?
