Whale Watching near Cape Town, South Africa Welcome to Gansbaai, home of the Marine Big 5.
Trip Summary 23 July 2024:
As we started our day early today we made the most out of it excited about what the early bird will catch today. On our first trip, we launched as usual out of Kleinbaai Harbour whereas our return plus the launch of our second trip led us to Gansbaai Harbour due to the tide. As usual, we headed into deeper waters past Danger Point. Numerous Albatrosses came our way giving us some company while looking out for some whales and both trips were lucky to find them. The first trip had a southern right whale close to some kelp and a brief look at a rather shy humpback whale. On the second tour, we found numerous Bryde’s whales and a sunfish off Danger Point.
Shark Alley was already busy as the Cape fur seals were either seeking some sun and roaming around Geyser Rock or having fun in the cool waters. Stopping by Dyer Island we were able to see some of the endangered African Penguins sitting close to the water. Before heading back to Kleinbaai on the second tour of the day, some dolphins came across us close to the shark cage diving boats, what a great ending to the day and tour.
