Southern right whales! Marine Big 5 Daily Blog
Written by August 5 2021

On both trips today we spotted southern right whales on our way tot the Danger Point peninsula. Out there we also encountered a variety of seabirds before making our way towards Dyer Island to see some African Penguin. We also made a few passes at the Cape Fur seal colony and were observing them on land as well as the ones having a great time swimming in the world-famous Shark Alley. On our first tour we also managed to find two individuals of the shy and elusive humpback dolphins in the shallow waters close to the coast.
What species did we see today?

As one of only 17 penguin species left in the world (and the only one on the african continent), the african penguin often breed in offshore colonies, such as Dyer Island.

With a local population of 60,000, it's no wonder our guests capture so many photographs of these wonderfully playful marine mammals.
