Whales and wind! Marine Big 5 Daily Blog
Written by October 19 2021
Today started with some fantastic whale sightings in Pearly Beach despite some wind. On our first tour we encountered a playful calf breaching a few times while its mother was swimming relaxed alongside the vessel. On the second tour we also had great whale sightings with a mother and her calf very relaxed alongside the vessel. Throughout the day we did also encounter penguins, saw lots of Cape Fur seals at Geyser Rock and bronze whaler sharks at our sister company Marine Dynamics, who offer the shark cage diving.

As one of only 17 penguin species left in the world (and the only one on the african continent), the african penguin often breed in offshore colonies, such as Dyer Island.

With a local population of 60,000, it's no wonder our guests capture so many photographs of these wonderfully playful marine mammals.
Bronze Whaler Shark Bronze Whaler Shark
The Bronze whaler (also known as Copper sharks) here in Kleinbaai are very curious and interactive. These sharks eat mostly fish, with sardines being one of their favourites.
