Whales! Marine Big 5 Daily Blog

On our first tour we had two species of whale, first a humpback whale close to Danger Point and then a southern right whale in very shallow waters close to Uilenkraalsmond. We also saw a bronze whaler shark at the cage diving boats and many Cape Fur seals on Geyser Rock. On the second tour we spotted again the southern right whales in the shallow waters, being very relaxed alongside our boat. After a visit to the famous Shark Alley and having spotted an endangered African penguin and other seabirds we slowly made our way back to the harbour.
What species did we see today?

One of the best-known whale species, they are renowned for their acrobatic behaviour and complex melodious song as well as extremely long flippers and are a special favourite of Dyer Island Cruises guests and crew alike.
