Whale Watching near Cape Town, South Africa Welcome to Gansbaai, home of the Marine Big 5.
Trip Summary 03 November 2023:
As usual, we headed out of Kleinbaai Harbour along the more shallow areas to look for Southern Right whales. Shortly after we found the first pairs that were active and which most certainly left an impression on our guests. Some time after we let them be and moved further on to the Shark cage diving vessels where Bronze Whaler sharks were already circling the boat. The lookout for our Marine Big 5 has not stopped yet. After leaving the Shark boats we made our way over to Geyser Rock and Dyer Island to top it up with numerous Cape fur seals and the endangered African Penguins.

With a local population of 60,000, it's no wonder our guests capture so many photographs of these wonderfully playful marine mammals.

As one of only 17 penguin species left in the world (and the only one on the african continent), the african penguin often breed in offshore colonies, such as Dyer Island.
